Term 3's Inquiry wall
During term 3 the whole school was learning about science. We learn't about different experiments, reactions, chemicals and states of matter. Room 16 loved learning about the water cycle. This is term 3's inquiry wall.
Our Taniwha
During the beginning of term 3 room 16 has been studying Taniwha. We explored the meaning of Taniwha, why they are significant, how they are made and many more.

Hauora and wellbeing stretches
Our Term 2 inquiry was about being healthy both mentally and physically. We know that it is really important to look after ourselves and to treat our bodies and minds with care. Here is a photo of our whole syndicate doing wellbeing stretches underneath our new shade sail.

Our new shade sail!
During Term 2 Room 16 were lucky enough to be able to watch our new shade sail come to life. We were really excited to watch all the diggers, trucks and cranes from our class windows. We would like to thank the builders for taking time out of their day to involve us with their work and let us watch at such a close distance.

During Term 2 room 16 has being completing a complements project. This is where we write nice things to our classmates. We are making this into a class book so that we can read it whenever we want.

Term 1's Inquiry wall
During term 1 the whole school was learning about the environment and how to help it. Room 16 learn't about what rubbish to put in each bin and what happens to the rubbish once it goes to the landfill or recycling plant. Room 16 decided to do an art piece for the wall to show what rubbish belongs in each bin. Firstly, we drew our rubbish and then coloured and cut them out, then we placed them in the correct bin and Miss Gill stapled them to the wall.
We love our "rubbish" wall display

Mangere Mountain trip
On the 17th of March Room 16 and 17 went on a trip to Mangere mountain. We learn't about the land and the history of the mountain. We also learnt about the plants that were used for traditional medicines, and we even got to try some Kawakawa balm and tea. After we used Harakeke (flax) to make some beautiful bracelets. Room 16 had lots of fun, we would like to say a big thanks to Mrs Hood for organising this trip for us and to all the parents that helped us on the day.
Room 16's special visitors
On the 21st of February Room 16 had some special visitors spend the day with us. I had showed room 16 a video of my chickens hatching and we had a discussion about it. So I then decided I would bring them in for the day and they watched us do our work. In the afternoon we all got into a big circle on the mat and we all had a cuddle with them. These are our special visitors.

Room 16's collaborative Korowai
Room 16 has been learning about Korowai's (Maori cloaks). To make our Korowai we had to work as a team and as one. The first thing we did was colour in our feathers, we used colouring pencils. The we cut out our feathers and passed them to Miss Gill, who glued them onto the background of our Korowai. Room 16 loves our beautiful Korowai.
